This decision was made by President Droupadi Murmu after accepting the resignation of Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, who previously held these positions. Radhakrishnan has been serving as the Governor of Jharkhand since 2023 and was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before his appointment. He has also held various political positions, including a two-time Lok Sabha MP from Coimbatore and Tamil Nadu BJP president. Prior to his current role, he was the chairman of the All India Coir Board from 2016 to 2019.
