Delhi, 19 March (H.S): The Congress party has taken a decisive step by approaching the Delhi High Court on Tuesday to challenge the tax re-assessment proceedings initiated against them by the authorities.
The counsel representing the political party presented this issue before a bench led by Acting Chief Justice Manmohan, who has agreed to hear the case on Wednesday. The bench, including Justice Manmeet PS Arora, assured that they would list the case for hearing tomorrow, provided all necessary formalities are completed. #Congress #DelhiHighCourt #TaxTrouble
This development follows a previous instance where the high court had declined to intervene in a similar matter. The Income Tax Appellate Tribunal had previously refused to stay a notice issued by the Income Tax department to the Congress for the recovery of outstanding tax exceeding Rs 100 crore. #ReassessmentProceedings #IncomeTax
The tax demand stems from the assessing officer’s evaluation for the assessment year 2018-19, which was based on an income assessment of Rs 199 crore. In light of these circumstances, the Congress party is now seeking relief from the high court in this ongoing legal matter.
