Delhi, 14 March (H.S): On Thursday, Prime Minister #NarendraModi will deliver a speech at #JLNStadium in the national capital, addressing the beneficiaries of the PM SVANidhi scheme. The Prime Minister’s Office has announced that during the event, PM Modi will distribute loans to 1 lakh street vendors, including 5,000 vendors from Delhi.
Additionally, he will also lay the foundation stone for two new corridors of #DelhiMetro’s Phase 4. This initiative is in line with the Prime Minister’s vision to provide economic support to the marginalized sections, especially during the ongoing global economic crisis caused by the pandemic.
The PM #SVANidhi scheme has proved to be transformative for street vendors across the country, with over 82 lakh loans amounting to Rs 10,978 crore disbursed so far. In Delhi alone, nearly 2 lakh loans worth Rs 232 crore have been distributed. This scheme continues to promote financial inclusion and overall welfare for those who have been historically underserved.
The two new Delhi Metro corridors, Lajpat Nagar – Saket-G Block and Inderlok – Indraprastha, will further improve connectivity and reduce traffic congestion in the city. Overall, this programme reflects the government’s commitment to uplift and empower marginalized communities in India.
