Delhi, 14 February (H.S) : Vibhakar Shastri, the grandson of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, made headlines on Wednesday as he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Lucknow. The event was attended by Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and marked another major setback for the Congress party. Shastri had previously been a member of the Congress but decided to resign from the party, citing differences with the leadership. In a message addressed to Congress President Mallikarjuna Kharge, Shastri politely tendered his resignation from the primary membership of the party.
This move came shortly after veteran leaders Ashok Chavan and Baba Siddique also left the Congress, further weakening the party’s already dwindling strength. With this move, Vibhakar Shastri has demonstrated his support for the BJP and its ideology, while also signaling a shift in his political allegiance.
It remains to be seen how this will impact both the BJP and Congress in the upcoming state elections. But for now, Vibhakar Shastri’s move has definitely caused a stir in the political arena.
