Delhi, 7 February (H.S): On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a scathing attack on the Congress party during his speech at the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address in Rajya Sabha.
He accused Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, of being against any kind of reservation for backward classes. The Prime Minister quoted a statement from Nehru where he expressed his dislike for reservation and stated that it leads to inefficiency and second-rate standards.
Modi also accused Congress of being the biggest opponent of Dalits, backward and tribal people by birth and questioned if Dr. B.R. Ambedkar would have been able to introduce reservation had he not been there. He further criticized Congress for promoting a colonial mindset in the country and not doing enough to address the issues faced by the youth, women, poor, and food providers ? which he referred to as the four largest castes in India.
The Prime Minister also questioned the Congress’ admiration for British rulers and their failure to change laws and traditions left behind by them after independence.
