Delhi, 7 February (H.S): During his address in the Upper House while replying to the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi focused on laying out the NDA’s roadmap for growth and development in the country. However, his speech was not devoid of attacks on the Congress and the Gandhi family. He cited India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and claimed that Nehru was against reservation for the poor and marginalized class as it could lead to inefficiency and incompetence in the system.
PM Modi also mocked the Congress for its repeated failures and misfiring attempts at launching its ‘Yuvraj’ (referring to Rahul Gandhi). He also highlighted some of the NDA government’s path-breaking programs, such as bringing the backward classes into mainstream through inclusive policies.
PM Modi’s address in the Upper House was a mix of highlighting the NDA’s achievements and calling out the Congress for its shortcomings over the years.
