As Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Kashmir today, March 7, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has ramped up security measures across the valley. This marks Modi’s inaugural visit to the region following the repeal of Article 370. In anticipation of large crowds at the Bakshi Stadium rally, extensive security protocols have been implemented to guarantee a secure event.
Security checkpoints have been established throughout various locations to mitigate potential disruptions, and Srinagar has been designated a “Temporary Red Zone” for drone activities. Under the Drone Rules, 2021, any unauthorized drone operations within this zone will face penalties.
Security personnel have been significantly deployed along the Prime Minister’s routes in Srinagar, with barriers erected to manage movement during this high-profile visit.
The administration has also enhanced surveillance efforts within a two-kilometre radius of the event’s location, employing drones, CCTV surveillance, and on-the-ground patrols. Additionally, marine commandos are stationed in the Jhelum River and Dal Lake to thwart any threats. These stringent security measures aim to facilitate a secure and orderly visit for Prime Minister Modi and the rally participants.
