Delhi, 7 February (H.S): On Wednesday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is set to hold significant discussions with his Bangladeshi counterpart Hasan Mahmud. The meeting will cover a wide range of topics and will focus on reviewing the overall cooperation between the two countries. The two leaders are also expected to explore ways to further strengthen and boost their bilateral ties.
This comes as Mahmud visits India from February 6 to 9, marking his first bilateral foreign trip since Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s fifth term victory in parliamentary elections last month. Apart from meeting Jaishankar, Mahmud is also scheduled to hold talks with Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal.
The Ministry of External Affairs has highlighted that this trip holds great significance as it marks Mahmud’s first bilateral visit abroad as the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh after the swearing-in of the new government.
This meeting is expected to further strengthen the friendly relations between India and Bangladesh and pave the way for greater cooperation in the future.
