In anticipation of the Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi of the Congress party is gearing up to captivate the nation’s young voters and those facing unemployment. He plans to reveal a detailed 10-point election manifesto targeting these demographics during a rally in Madhya Pradesh, an event that will also feature Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. This initiative is part of a broader strategy by the Congress to appeal to diverse voter segments as they ramp up their election campaign. The Congress Election Committee, under Kharge’s leadership, is slated to convene this Thursday to finalize the list of candidates for pivotal states such as Kerala and Karnataka.
A manifesto committee, chaired by ex-Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, has been tasked with drafting the party’s manifesto, which is set to be reviewed by the Congress Working Committee. Among the key promises are a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers and the conduct of a nationwide caste census should they come to power. Additionally, the party has mobilized one lakh Booth Level Agents (BLA) to bolster its election efforts. With the Lok Sabha elections expected to take place in April-May of this year, the Congress is keen on securing the support of the youth by addressing their concerns and ambitions through their 10-point election promise and other campaign initiatives.
