Internal Rifts Hindered Congress Victory in Rajasthan Assembly Polls: Pilot

Delhi, 6 February (H.S): Congress leader Sachin Pilot stated on Tuesday that the party could have won the Rajasthan Assembly polls with more effort, but differences between him and former chief minister Ashok Gehlot did not affect the outcome. Speaking at a national conclave, Pilot expressed regret for not winning in Rajasthan and felt they had a good chance. However, he mentioned that if they had made some changes in candidate selection, the results may have been better.

Despite being removed from the position of deputy chief minister due to a fallout with Gehlot, Pilot clarified that they had resolved their issues and it did not impact the election. When asked about the next election, he said it was still five years away. Pilot also spoke about the recent Ram temple consecration and highlighted the importance of personal choice in practicing religion.

He stated that using religion for political gain is wrong and the state must be removed from it. He also mentioned not receiving an invitation for the ceremony despite being a devotee of Lord Ram and believes that everyone should be able to worship in their own way without interference.
