PM embarks on massive roadshow in Assam, projects worth ?11.6k cr to be unveiled

New Delhi, 4 Feb (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will present almost ?11,600 crore in development projects in Assam on Sunday. He conducted a roadshow and is expected to address a public assembly at Khanapara’s Veterinary College playground, where various state and central projects will be launched.

The foundation stones will be set for many key projects, including the Kamakhya temple corridor, the six-lane road from Guwahati’s new airport terminal, the upgrading of Nehru Stadium to FIFA standards, and a new sports facility in Chandrapur.

The Prime Minister will also kick off the second edition of Asom Mala roads. This phase would include 43 new roads and 38 concrete bridges, a total investment of ?3,444 crore.

Modi will also lay the groundwork for an integrated new building of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, which would cost ?3,250 crore to construct. He will also lay the groundwork for the projected Karimganj Medical College and Hospital, which would cost ?578 crore, and the ?297 crore Unity Mall in Guwahati.

The Prime Minister will open the freshly completed four-lane road from Biswanath Chariali to Gohpur, which cost ?1,451 crore, as well as another four-lane road from Dolabari to Jamuguri, which cost ?592 crore.

“In total, the prime minister will lay foundation stones or inaugurate projects worth ?11,599 crore, funded by both the state government and the Centre,” said Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Modi is expected to return after the programme on Sunday afternoon. The Prime Minister arrived at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport here from Odisha on Saturday evening and spent the night at the Koinadhara State Guest House. In Odisha, he laid the groundwork for projects worth more than ?68,000 crore in Sambalpur, which aim to improve the energy sector through natural gas, coal, and electricity generation, as well as key road, railway, and higher education projects. He also toured the IIM Sambalpur model and attended a picture display commemorating the event.
