Safety Concerns for Indian Students Studying in the US

Delhi, 2 February (H.S): The recent deaths of four Indian students studying in the US have sparked fears and concerns over the safety and security of those pursuing education abroad. The most recent case was of Shreyas Reddy Benigeri, a student of Lindner School of Business in Cincinnati.

This follows the deaths of Neel Acharya from Purdue University, Vivek Saini from Georgia, and Akul B Dhawan from University of Illinois. The Indian Consulate in New York has announced that a police investigation is underway, but angry netizens are calling for a travel advisory to be issued. They believe that simply repatriating the remains of the deceased students is not enough and that more needs to be done to ensure the safety of Indian students in the US.

Many users on social media have urged the External Affairs Minister to take swift action, with some even suggesting a travel advisory for Indian students planning to study in the US. These tragic incidents have brought attention to the need for better protection and support for Indian students studying abroad, especially in light of the fact that Indians make up a significant portion of the international student population in many countries.

This also highlights the importance of regularly updating and issuing travel advisories to ensure the safety and well-being of Indian nationals living and studying abroad.
