On the upcoming Friday, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, is set to inaugurate the first unit of the North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project (NKSTPP) in Jharkhand, with a capacity of 660 MW. This project, having a total investment of Rs 7,526 crore, is situated in the Chatra district and encompasses a total power generation capacity of 1980 MW across three units, each generating 660 MW.
The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has announced that this pit-head power project will primarily serve the states of Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, and West Bengal by providing them with consistent, cost-effective electricity. This initiative is not just a leap towards India’s aim for power self-reliance and universal electricity access but also a catalyst for regional development through direct and indirect job creation and various social welfare programs focusing on education, health, sanitation, drinking water, and empowering women.
