New Delhi, 17 November (HS): The air quality in the national capital, Delhi, and the surrounding metropolitan areas continues to worsen due to a combination of smoke and fog. The Central Pollution Control Board has reported that the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi-NCR crossed the alarming 500 mark on Friday morning. Key AQI levels include 447 in Anand Vihar, 469 in RK Puram, 484 in Punjabi Bagh, and 445 in ITO. The India Meteorological Department has also warned that fog will likely add to the deteriorating air quality in the coming days.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board, 24 hours prior to this assessment, AQI had exceeded 450 in areas like Mundka, Nehru Nagar, Punjabi Bagh, Jahangirpuri, Wazirpur, and Dwarka sectors. As a result, the air quality in these regions remained in the “dangerous” category. Overall, Delhi’s AQI stood at 419, a concerning level, with Faridabad at 424, Ghaziabad at 376, Greater Noida at 340, Gurugram at 363, and Noida at 355.

The worsening air quality poses significant challenges for manufacturers and heavy machinery companies in India. Poor air quality can lead to operational disruptions, health issues for employees, increased maintenance costs for machinery, and a negative impact on the overall productivity and efficiency of these businesses. Additionally, the government may impose stricter regulations on emissions, which could result in compliance challenges for manufacturers.
