Voting begins for all 230 seats in MP, huge enthusiasm among people

Bhopal, 17 November (HS): Voting started at 7 am today (Friday) for all 230 assembly seats of Madhya Pradesh. Voting is going on at 64,626 polling stations across the state. There is huge enthusiasm among the voters. A large number of people are reaching the polling booth and exercising their franchise. There have been long queues outside the polling stations since morning. Voting will be held till 3:00 pm at some polling stations in Naxal-affected Balaghat, Mandla and Dindori. The voting process will continue till 6.00 pm at all the remaining polling stations.

State Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan said that one and a half hours before the start of voting i.e. at 5:30 am, a mock poll was conducted at all the polling stations in the presence of the candidates and their authorized agents. After this, the voting process started at 7.00 am. Peaceful voting is going on at 64,626 polling stations. Tight security arrangements have been made at the polling stations. Police forces have been deployed everywhere.

It is noteworthy that this time voting is being held in a single phase in Madhya Pradesh. This time a total of 2533 candidates are in the fray for all 230 seats, whose fate will be decided in EVMs today. Five crore 59 lakh 83 thousand 139 voters in the state will use their franchise to decide the fate of these candidates. Among these, the number of male voters is 2 crore 87 lakh 82 thousand 261, the number of female voters is 2 crore 71 lahks 99 thousand 586 and the number of third gender voters is 1292.

Anupam Rajan has called upon all the voters to participate in the great festival of democracy by casting their votes. He said that citizens are the bearers of rich democratic traditions. Democracy becomes refined and prosperous only through the active participation of voters.
