World’s first cloned Tibetan sheep born in China

Beijing, 28 Feb (HS): Chinese scientists claim to have cloned the world?s first Tibetan sheep. The Tibetan sheep was cloned in Qinghai province of China. The scientists hope to improve the breeding efficiency of the species.

According to the Global Times report, a research team of Northwest A and F University and the Veterinary Disease Control and Prevention Centre jointly carried out the research. The cells of the two cloned Tibetan goats were harvested from three rams and one ewe. The birth of the world?s first cloned endangered Xizang species was announced last month in Xizang Autonomous Region.
