Washington, February 27 – Aaron Bushnell, a member of the US Air Force, tragically lost his life due to severe burn injuries after setting himself on fire outside the Israeli Embassy in Washington, in a drastic protest against the situation in Gaza.
Witnesses reported that Bushnell was vocal about his refusal to be silent about what he viewed as genocide in Gaza, stating, “I will not be complicit in genocide (in Gaza). I am about to engage in an extreme act of protest” before his act of self-immolation. The distressing incident, captured in a video that has since circulated widely on social media, showed him chanting “Free Palestine” moments before igniting the fire.
Emergency services rushed Bushnell to a nearby hospital immediately following the incident, but he succumbed to his injuries on Monday.
