New Delhi, 27 January (HS): Congress has demanded an inquiry on American company Hindenburg Research accusing the Adani group of stock manipulation and accounting fraud.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh tweeted on Friday that the Congress demands that the allegations against the Adani Group be investigated by institutions like the Reserve Bank of India and the Securities and Exchange Board of India so that the truth can be revealed. Ramesh said that although a political party should not react on such matters, the Congress is constantly being asked to react on this issue, the party demands an inquiry into the matter. Ramesh said that serious allegations have been leveled against the Adani group. These allegations cannot be easily dismissed and must be investigated.

Adani Group has been accused of accounting fraud including manipulation of shares in a report by the American company Hindenburg Research. Two days after the release of the report, i.e. on Thursday, the Adani group issued a statement warning of legal action. Adani Group’s Head of Legal Affairs Jatin Jalundhwala had said that Hindenburg published the report on January 24, 2023 against the group with malafide intention without any research and full information. This has adversely affected Adani Group, our shareholders and investors. Jalundhwala had said, they are deeply troubled by these antics of Hindenburg and are considering punitive action against Hindenburg.
