History: Dating back to the 14th century, Purandar Fort has a rich history. The Yadava dynasty built the fort; later, the Bahmani Sultanate captured it. The Nizam Shahi dynasty, which ruled over the region for several years, took over the fort afterwards. During the Maratha empire’s reign, the fort served as a military stronghold for the Maratha army, playing a significant role in Indian history. In 1670, Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj captured the fort from the Adil Shahi Sultanate and incorporated it into his vast empire. Best time to visit: Cool and pleasant weather between October and March makes it the best time to visit Purandar Fort. The monsoon season between June and September is also an excellent time to visit, as the surrounding hills and forests are lush and green.
