Etawah, 17 May (HS): Lioness Rupa gave birth to four dead cubs in the Lion Safari Park located in the district. The Safari administration has sent the bodies of the dead cubs to IVRI Bareilly for post-mortem. Safari Park Director Dr. Anil Kumar Patel said that late Thursday night, lioness Rupa gave birth to four dead cubs in the Safari Park. He told reporters that lioness Rupa, who is five years old in the safari park. She gave birth to four dead cubs about twenty days before the completion of her pregnancy period. Lioness Rupa and a lion named Kanha mated in the Lion Safari area in the month of February.

Expert Veterinary Care and Preparations at Breeding Center

After the meeting, lioness Rupa was kept in the breeding centre, where an expert veterinarian was also deployed for his complete care. Complete preparations were made at the breeding center for the possible date of delivery of the lioness on June 5 or 6, but the delivery took place before time.

Lioness Roopa has conceived for the second time. Earlier, for the first time, she had given birth to two cubs, one of which was dead. The second cub, which was not adopted by the lioness, was hand-cared for by keeper Ajay in the Neo Natal Care Unit, who is currently healthy and eight months old. He said that due to premature delivery, it is possible that none of the cubs would survive. As per instructions received from Principal Chief Forest Conservator Wildlife and Chief Forest Wildlife Warden, Uttar Pradesh Lucknow, all the dead cubs have been sent to IVRI Bareilly for information about the actual reasons for the death of the cub and for special research.
