The atmosphere was charged on Sunday; campaign decibels at election rallies were at an all-time high. Reason: today was the last Sunday before Mumbai went to polls. As the clocks ticks down to May 20, i.e., with just a handful of days left before voters cast their ballots, candidates and their teams ramped up their efforts and intensified the campaigning frenzy to unprecedented levels. And Mahayuti’s South Mumbai candidate Yamini Jadhav also remained at the forefront.
Yamini Jadhav Leads Campaign Charge in South Mumbai
While candidates were leaving no stone unturned in their quest for victory, employing every available tactic and strategy, this cancer warrior and sitting MLA from Byculla Assembly constituency, Yamini Jadhav showed no signs of abating. Whether it was interacting with first-time voters or participating in meetings called by different housing societies, whether it was taking out short padayatras or organizing quick street corner meetings – her aim was to reach out to her electorates to understand their concerns and to seek their assurance to vote on the polling day.
The Role of Social Media in Shaping Political Narratives
When asked as to how she would ensure to reach out to people from her constituency that extends from Worli to Colaba, she said, “In this digital age, social media is the most potent tool for political campaigning. I am trying to reach out to my electorates and speak to them about issues that concern them on a day-to-day basis.”
Social media platforms including X, Facebook Live, Instagram stories, YouTube videos continue to be game-changer with candidates utilizing the digital units to engage with their voters. Political observers believe that it not only plays a critical role in setting the narrative but also proves to be an effective image-building exercise. However, dealing with social media and AI-based misinformation also happens to be one of the toughest tasks that candidates and parties need to be cautious about.
