North Goa Sting : Drug Dealers caught in North Goa successfully by the police
In a continued effort to combat the drug trade in the region, the Anti-Narcotic Cell of the North Goa Police recently executed consecutive raids, resulting in the apprehension of two individuals and the seizure of narcotics valued at a total of rupees 7 lakhs.
FIRST ARREST:
During the initial raid, the Anti-Narcotic Cell apprehended Dinesh, also known as Melvin Dandekar, a resident of Vale Waddo, Assagao. He was found in possession of 600 grams of charas and 2 kilograms of ganja, with a combined worth of Rs. 5 lakhs.
Additionally, law enforcement officers discovered a pistol magazine and seven live rounds of 9mm bullets in Dinesh’s possession during the raid. Consequently, he is facing charges under the Arms Act for the unlawful possession of ammunition, in addition to the narcotics-related charges. The swift and decisive action by the Anti-Narcotic Cell underscores the authorities’ commitment to combatting drug-related activities and maintaining public safety in the region.
HISTORY-SHEETER
Dinesh, also known as Melvin Dandekar, has a history with law enforcement, having been previously arrested by the Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) in 2016 for his involvement in the narcotics trade. Despite being recently released from judicial custody, he remained under the radar of the ANC team. Through a combination of technical surveillance and human intelligence, the ANC successfully apprehended this notorious drug dealer.
The raid, orchestrated by a dedicated team led by PSI Dindayal Redkar, included the efforts of HC Pramod Kalangutkar and PCs Sachin Atoskar, Sandesh Volvoikar, Sadanand Malik, and Yogesh Madgaonkar. Their coordinated efforts reflect the commitment of law enforcement to apprehend individuals involved in illegal drug activities and maintain public safety.
SECOND ARREST:
In the second case, the Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) apprehended a youth named Nihal Patil from Honda, Sattari, after discovering him in possession of 2 kilograms of ganja valued at Rs. 2 lakhs. This operation reflects the ANC’s strategic shift towards keeping vigil on villages through continuous surveillance. Through a week-long operation and the rounding up of several suspects, the ANC ultimately arrested Nihal Patil, identified as the primary supplier of ganja in the area and its surroundings.
GOING AFTER THE SOURCE
In their pursuit of justice, the ANC is diligently tracing the source from which the accused procured large quantities of ganja. The raid was executed under the leadership of PSI Manjunath Naik, supported by PCs Akshay Naik, Rahul Gawas, Amit Salunke, and PCD Kundan Patekar. This proactive approach underscores the ANC’s unwavering commitment to eradicating the narcotics trade in the state, as they continue to apprehend suspicious individuals across the region.
Both raids were conducted concurrently within a short span of time, under the supervision of PI ANC Sajith Pillai, operating under the guidance and leadership of DySP ANC Shri Nerlon Albuquerque and SP ANC Shri Akshat Kaushal, IPS. This coordinated effort exemplifies the ANC’s dedication to maintaining law and order and safeguarding communities from the harmful effects of drug trafficking.
