Khelmati Police Station Incident Results in Fifteen Arrests for Stone Pelting and Arson

Guwahati, May 25 (HS). Fifteen persons were arrested in connection with stone pelting by a mob at Khelmati police post in North Lakhimpur district. Assam Director General of Police GP Singh informed today through social media that ”on the basis of CCTV footage and other evidence collected, fifteen persons have been arrested in connection with the stone pelting by the mob at Khelmati outpost in North Lakhimpur district on May 23.

The arrested accused include Jahangir Ali, Malek Ali, Monirul Islam, Sahajan Alam, Soni Ahmed, Papu Khan, Mubarak Ali, Mojibur Rahman, Azizur Rahman, Kashem Ali, Baharul Islam, Anarul alias Anar Islam, Syed Mafuzur Rahman and two minors. During the search, materials used to prepare arson were also recovered and confiscated. Appropriate legal action is being taken.
