South 24 Parganas, 22 December (HS): A jewellery shop, located by the side of Alampur High Road under Nodkhali police station of Budge Budge block number two of South 24 Parganas district, was looted on Thursday night. The Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
According to the shop employees, three youths came on a bike on Thursday evening and entered the gold jewellery shop posing as buyers. Putting the employees on gunpoint, the looted the cash box along with other jewellery items and fled on a motorcycle. On information the police reached the spot and started investigating the matter.
The police are currently interrogating the shop owner Deepak Samant. The CCTV footage of the area and the shop is being examined.
