Islamabad, 12 Dec (HS): At least 23 people were killed in a terror attack in Dera Ismail Khan district of Pakistan on Tuesday morning.
Suicide bombers stormed a security compound of the Daraban Police Station in the Dera Ismail Khan district, bordering the South Waziristan district.
According to police, the terrorists rammed into the police station using an explosive-laden vehicle. This was followed by a mortar attack. In the exchange of fire, at least six security personnel were killed and 16 injured. All the attackers were killed by the security forces. An additional police force was rushed to the site. A subsequent search operation was launched.
A militant organisation Tehrik-e-Jihad Pakistan (TJP) claimed the responsibility for the attack. TJP spokesperson Mullah Qasim termed the attack a ?Fidayeen? (suicide) mission.
