What occurred ? Police and NGO Dismantle International Sex Trafficking Ring

Mandrem Police, with assistance from the Arz NGO, has successfully dismantled an international sex trafficking syndicate linking Uganda and India. SP North, Akshat Kaushal, revealed that the operation preyed on economically vulnerable young single mothers from Uganda. These women were lured with false promises of employment at establishments in Goa, only to be coerced into prostitution upon arrival in India. The traffickers confiscated their passports and visas, using threats of violence to control them.

Key Trafficker Arrested in International Sex Trafficking Bust

The ring, primarily orchestrated by trafficker Jojo Nakintu, operated both online through escort websites and offline, with a presence on beaches and roads in Arambol. The breakthrough came when a victim managed to contact her embassy, prompting the intervention of the Goa police. Mandrem Police Inspector, along with ARZ NGO members, embarked on a challenging search operation, eventually rescuing two victims and apprehending one trafficker.

The arrested individual, Ms. Jojo Nakintu, a 31-year-old Ugandan national, faces charges under IPC Section 370 and Sections 4, 5, and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. The rescued women have been relocated to a protective home in Merces. Investigation into the syndicate continues under the guidance of PI Mandrem PS Sheriff Jaques, supervised by SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi and SP North Akshat Kaushal IPS.
