Indoco pharma company had to cancel its recruitment drive scheduled on this 24th after its recruitment advertisement went viral today (22 May) on the social media. Reason being, they had recruitment drive in Maharashtra for job postings in Goa, which would have denied the locals their right-of-job! This was first highlighted on social media platform X (former Twitter) by Manoj Parab, and soon went viral with unhappiness and anger being expressed from every corner in Goa. However, by evening a Press Note went viral, from the Indoco Pharma, stating that they had cancelled the recruitment drive “due to some unavoidable circumstances” and the CM’s intervention.
Indoco Pharma Snubs Goan Talent
Today morning, Manoj Parab, (Revolutionary Goans Party, President), tweeted an advertisement of Indoco Pharma which had mentioned about a recruitment drive on 24th and 25th of May. This walk-in was for the following department/positions: Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Microbiology officer and in Production department. Everything was looking normal in this advertisement, till it was observed that this recruitment drive was being conducted in the company’s Boisar Unit (Maharashtra), while the vacancies were in their Goa plant. Thus denying the locals their right-of-job! This was a brazen and audacious on the company’s part to not give the local’s an opportunity to showcase their skills and talent.
Backlash Halts Indoco Pharma Recruitment Drive
Along with this advertisement, Parab tweeted that, “Company in Goa and interview in Maharashtra. This attitude of Pharma companies in Goa has crossed all the limits. The BJP government has sold our jobs to Migrants. We do not have a strong Job reservation policy for locals. It’s all about donations and electoral bonds for BJP.”!
While reactions were pouring from all across in Goa, by evening the company’s Goa unit, located at Verna Industrial Estate, released a press note which had the subject line “Regarding cancellation of Walk-in interviews planned at Boisar location on 24th May 2024.”! This press note, addressed to the CM, mentioned that “due to some unavoidable circumstances & your personal interventions”, the drive was cancelled.

Indoco Pharma’s first brazenness was highlighted when they released the advertisement calling for walk-ins in Maharashtra for job location in Goa. Secondly, by doing this, they not only insulted the local talent but also have not clarified on the possible recruitment drive in Goa or neither have they apologised. When this grave mistake was viral, their should have been an apology, but their evening press note didn’t have mention of any apology. The second thing missing in their press note was the future recruitment drive for the Goans or any assurance of it. Ideally, when a recruitment drive is conducted, then its due to lack of work force. But they have not mentioned any details or assurance about the next possible recruitment drive for the Goans.
