Kathmandu, 20 Mar (HS): The three-day Nepal-India International Sanskrit Conference will be held in Kathmandu from March 27. More than 50 scholars from both countries are expected to participate. India?s Central Sanskrit University and India Foundation are the co-convenors of the event organised by Niti Research Trust of Nepal.
The conference convenor Dr Premraj Nyopane informed the media that Vice-Chancellors of various Indian universities will participate. About 35 experts from Nepal and 40 from India are expected to participate. Discussion on promoting Sanskrit from primary to college level will be held. Sanskrit is our first language and needs to be preserved and made the language of common people.
Niti Trust Director Dr Deepak Adhikari said that the conference is a part of the mission to promote Sanskrit. Generating awareness about the language is important. The language cannot be preserved and promoted only by the government without people?s support.
Nepal?s Sanskrit University, Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu University, Purvanchal University and Pokhra University will be associated with the event.
