In a significant judgment in Uttar Pradesh, a local court handed down life sentences to four individuals from the same family in connection with a dowry death case. The verdict was delivered by District Judge Anil Kumar Jha, who found Jag Prasad Mishra (the father-in-law), Radha Mishra (the mother-in-law), Durgesh Mishra (the brother-in-law), and Neetu Mishra (the sister-in-law) guilty in the case. Additionally, the court imposed a fine of ₹85,000 on each convict.
The case originated from a complaint filed by Amresh Kumar Tiwari, a resident of Balrampur City, on September 28, 2016. Tiwari reported that his daughter, Sunita, was horrifically murdered for dowry by her in-laws, who set her ablaze using fuel when their dowry demands were not met. Following an investigation, the police charged the in-laws, leading to their conviction.
