As the Lok Sabha elections draw near, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is gearing up for his third visit to Kerala on February 27, marking a strategic push by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to establish a stronger presence in the state’s political landscape. This visit is strategically timed with the conclusion of a ‘padayatra’, a march led by BJP’s state president K Surendran, which started on January 27 from Kasaragod and will end with a grand ceremony at the Central stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. Modi’s engagement in this event underscores the BJP’s intent to challenge the traditional political dominance of regional parties like the Congress and the Left Front in Kerala. The Prime Minister’s participation in the culmination of the ‘padayatra’ is anticipated to invigorate the BJP’s campaign, rallying significant support in the state ahead of the crucial polls.
