Lucknow, 21 February (HS): INDIA alliance partners Samajwadi Party and the Congress declared a coalition for Uttar Pradesh’s Lok Sabha elections on Wednesday, with the state’s major opposition party handing up 17 of the 80 seats to the grand old party.
A statement was made during a joint news conference by SP state chairman Naresh Uttam Patel, SP national general secretary Rajendra Chaudhary, Congress state president Ajay Rai, and AICC in-charge of Uttar Pradesh Avinash Pande. According to SP state chairman Naresh Uttam Patel, the Congress would contest Raebareli, Amethi, Varanasi, Ghaziabad, Kanpur, and 12 other seats.
According to Patel, the Samajwadi Party would contest one seat in Madhya Pradesh, Khajuraho, and will help the Congress in the remaining seats. Pande stated that the Congress will compete for 17 seats, while SP and other alliance partners will compete for the other 63 seats in the state.
