Delhi, 19 February (H.S): union Minister Smriti Irani is set to visit her parliamentary constituency of Amethi for four days, starting on Monday. Interestingly, her visit coincides with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra entering the town. This holds significance as Gandhi, who represented Amethi for 15 years, was defeated by Irani in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. This visit will mark one of the rare instances since 2019 when both leaders will be present in Amethi at the same time. During her trip, Irani is scheduled to interact with villagers and attend a house-warming ceremony on February 22.
On the other hand, Gandhi’s visit entails a roadshow and a public meeting in Amethi town. This visit by both leaders to their former battleground constituency showcases the political importance and attention given to Amethi, making it a highly anticipated event for the locals.
