Haldwani Mosque Demolition: 3 Dead, 100 Cops Injured in Chaos

Haldwani/Delhi, 9 February (H.S): The city of Haldwani was thrown into chaos as violence erupted in the Vanbhoolpura locality over the demolition of a mosque and madrasa, allegedly built illegally. The clash between the Muslim community and administrative and police officials resulted in the death of three rioters and left over 100 police officers injured.

The situation was so severe that even journalists who were on site came under attack. As a precautionary measure, internet services were suspended in Haldwani to prevent the spread of rumours and maintain order. The state has been placed on high alert, with a focus on districts like Dehradun, Haridwar, and Udham Singh Nagar.

The police are maintaining a vigilant presence in sensitive areas to prevent any further unrest. Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami has directed increased vigilance in both rural and urban areas, with a task force led by the Dehradun District Magistrate and SSP actively monitoring the situation. While the situation remains tense, authorities have assured the public that things are under control.

However, schools in Haldwani have been closed on Friday as a precautionary measure for the safety of students. The police are also analysing video footage to identify those responsible for instigating the violence, and the administration has appealed to the public to remain calm and not believe any rumours.
