Islamabad, 05 Feb (HS): Ten police personnel were killed in an attack on Chodwan Police Station in Ismail Khan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan. The police station was attacked in the wee hours of Monday, around 3 am. Six others were injured in the attack.
According to the Dawn Newspaper and Geo News, the Pakistan Government has strongly condemned the attack. Voting for the general elections in Pakistan is scheduled for February 8.
Regional Police Officer Nasir Mahmud has confirmed the deaths. The attack has increased security concerns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.
Caretaker Chief Minister, Justice (Retd) Arshad Hussain Shah condemned the attack. He condoled the death of the martyred police personnel and prayed for early recovery of the injured. He also assured all kinds of help to the bereaved families.
Police said that the police station was attacked from all the sites with grenades and firing. The security personnel cordoned off the entire region and increased security. The last rites on the deceased will be performed in the police line.
