New Delhi, 4 Feb (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed the birth centenary celebrations of SN Goenka, founder of Vipassana Sadhana Institute. In his video message he said that meditation connects us with the feeling of unity. ?The feeling of solidarity, the power of unity is the main basis of developed India. In the birth centenary celebrations of Acharya SN Goenka, everyone has propagated this mantra throughout the year,? he said.
Describing Acharya Goenka as a great example of ‘one life, one mission’, the Prime Minister said that he had only one mission – Vipassana. ?Vipassana is a wonderful gift of the ancient Indian way of life to the whole world but this heritage of ours was forgotten. There was a long period in India in which the art of learning and teaching Vipassana was gradually disappearing. Goenkaji took initiation after doing penance for 14 years in Myanmar and then returned to the country with this ancient glory of India,? he opined. The Prime Minister described Goenkaji’s personality as calm and serious like pure water and said that like a silent servant, he spread the virtuous atmosphere. He benefited everyone with his knowledge of Vipassana and hence contributed to the entire humanity and the world.
