New Delhi, 4 Feb (HS): Congress politician Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed the Centre on Sunday over unfilled government jobs, claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s offer is an assurance of unemployment. According to data, around 30 lakh government positions are lying vacant in the country, according to the Congress general secretary in a post in Hindi on X. Crores of our young are looking for work, but the BJP administration has done nothing but propaganda to fill these positions for the previous ten years, she claimed.
In July 2022, the administration notified Parliament that 22 crore young people applied for work over eight years, but only seven lakh were hired, according to Vadra. This implies that about 21.93 crore eligible youths remained unemployed, she said.
“The BJP administration, which promised two crore employment per year, failed to ensure recruitment process for current jobs or generate new ones. During elections, the Prime Minister provides assurances,? she claimed. Vadra said that his assurance is actually a guarantee of unemployment.
The Congress leader said that the Centre’s interim Budget lacks both vision and a strategy to generate new jobs, adding that the “biggest misfortune” is that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman did not mention unemployment once. She further said that the BJP-led government has failed to reduce inflation and unemployment, and that its interim budget has disappointed all segments of society.
