Delhi, 01 February (HS): Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday presented the interim union Budget for the financial year 2024-25 in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of Parliament. Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting her sixth and final budget of the second term of the Modi government.
At the beginning of his budget speech in Parliament, the Finance Minister said that “our government has strengthened the concept of Sabka Saath, Sabka vikas”. Sitharaman started her budget speech by thanking the public.
She said that a new purpose and hope has arisen in the country. The public elected “us to the government for the second time. We talked about comprehensive development. Move forward with the mantra of everyone’s support, everyone’s trust and everyone’s effort”.
Sitharaman said that the people of the country are looking towards the future. They are hopeful. “We are moving forward under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” Sitharaman said that when Modi started work in 2014, there were a lot of challenges. “We started work in the interest of the public and gave maximum employment opportunities to the public.”
Earlier, Sitharaman, Ministers of State Dr Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad, Pankaj Choudhary and senior officials of the Finance Ministry met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan before presenting the union Budget 2024.
