Delhi, 31 January (H.S) : On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the issue of disruptions in parliamentary proceedings by ‘unruly MPs’ and called for introspection as the Budget Session of Parliament begins today.
In his address, PM Modi referred to the previous session where an unprecedented number of MPs were suspended for disrupting the proceedings. He urged these ‘habitual offenders’ to introspect and consider the impact of their actions on democracy and the people they represent.
PM Modi also highlighted the importance of women empowerment, mentioning the passing of the women’s reservation bill in the new Parliament. He emphasized the need for constructive criticism and positive contributions in parliamentary debates, rather than opposing for the sake of it.
He also announced that union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Interim Budget 2024-25 tomorrow, which will contain details about the estimated receipts and expenditure of the government until the formation of the new government after the general election.
PM Modi stated that the full Budget will be presented after the formation of the new government. This message from PM Modi serves as a reminder to all MPs to uphold their responsibilities and work towards strengthening democracy through meaningful discussions and debates in Parliament.
