Delhi, 31 January (HS): The brief budget session of Parliament will begin on Wednesday. It will start with the address of President Droupadi Murmu. She will address the joint session of both houses. A total of eight meetings are proposed in this session. The interim budget will be presented on February 1. This information was given by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi.
He said that the interim budget session 2024, will be the last session of the 17th Lok Sabha (January 31 to February 9). Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the interim budget on February 1. It is noteworthy that on January 12, the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha Secretariat issued a notification regarding the beginning of the budget session of Parliament. The new government to be formed after the Lok Sabha elections, likely to be held in April?May this year, will present the full budget later.
The tenure of the current Lok Sabha ends on June 16. Therefore, this will probably be the last session of the seventeenth Lok Sabha before the announcement of general elections. The Lok Sabha elections in the year 2019 were announced on March 10, and voting took place in seven phases between April 11 and May 19.
