New Delhi, 22 December (HS): The Delhi Police Special Cell has challenged in the Delhi High Court the order of the Patiala House Court to hand over the FIR to the accused Neelam’s family in the case of a lapse in the security of Parliament.
The High Court ordered the hearing to be held this afternoon. On December 21, the Patiala House Court ordered the Special Cell of the Delhi Police to provide a copy of the FIR within 24 hours to Neelam’s family, accused of breaching Parliament’s security.
The Patiala House Court said that while the accused is in police custody, they can seek legal aid. The court also allowed Neelam to meet her family and lawyer for 15 minutes every other day. The investigating officer will be present during the meeting but will remain at a reasonable distance so as not to be overheard.
Notably, Neelam was arrested on December 13 along with four other accused. The court had sent all of them to police custody on December 14. Today, the court extended the police custody of all four, including Neelam, by 15 days. Delhi Police has registered an FIR under UAPA against these accused. On December 13, the two accused jumped into the house from the audience of the Lok Sabha.
