Delhi Court To Rule On Sanjay Singh's Bail Plea In Excise 'Scam' Case

Delhi, 22 December (H.S): Delhi court is set to announce its verdict on the bail plea of AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh on Friday in connection with a money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam. The Special Judge M.K. Nagpal of Rouse Avenue Court had reserved his decision on December 12 after hearing arguments from both the prosecution and the defense.

During the proceedings, Singh’s lawyer argued that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had not questioned Singh before his arrest and pointed out contradictions in the statements of the accused-turned-approver and other witnesses.

However, the ED opposed the bail application, stating that Singh’s release could potentially obstruct the investigation, tamper with evidence, and influence witnesses. The anti-money laundering agency had arrested Singh on October 4 and has been conducting an ongoing investigation into the case. The court’s judgement will have a significant impact on the future course of the case and will determine whether or not Singh will be granted bail.
