Noida, 8 Dec (HS): The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has stated that it is working on a plan to build an underpass at the busiest intersection in Noida Extension, Char Murti Chowk, in order to decrease traffic congestion.
The GNIDA stated in a statement that it has floated a tender for the building of an underpass at this crossroads, which will cost around Rs 78 crore. Once building of this underpass begins, it will take around two years to complete. According to the announcement, GNIDA CEO NG Ravi Kumar has given orders to begin construction in January 2024 and complete it as quickly as possible, keeping in mind the demands of the people and those living in neighboring regions.
The population of Noida Extension, commonly known as Greater Noida West, is quickly growing. The busiest crossroad in this area is Char Murti Chowk. It was reported that U-turns were done on both sides as a temporary solution to avoid traffic congestion at the crossing.
Vehicles traveling from Gaur City to Surajpur or Noida must do a 130-metre U-turn. Similarly, cars traveling from Surajpur to Gaur City and Pratap Vihar do a U-turn towards Noida, according to the report.
As a long-term solution, an underpass has been proposed. At the Char Murti crossroads, this underpass will be erected parallel to the 60-metre road. This underpass will be used by vehicles traveling between Pratap Vihar and Surajpur in Greater Noida. According to the GNIDA, there will be no need to travel till the U-turn.
Drivers will save time and fuel as a result of this. RITES, a government consulting organization, has completed its design. RITES proposed creating an underpass at Char Murti Chowk when designing the city’s traffic mobility plan. The authority will now construct an underpass based on this recommendation, it said.
According to Annapurna Garg, Additional CEO of GNIDA, the tender document may be downloaded from December 8 to December 28. Pre-qualification offers will be accepted beginning December 29. The terms and circumstances of this procurement may be seen on the Greater Noida Authority’s website, www.greaternoidaauthority.in, according to Garg.
Additionally, alternate routes to ensure smooth traffic movement will be established while the underpass is being built, according to the officer.
