Kolkata, 8 December (HS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has agreed to attend the next meeting of the INDIA alliance of opposition parties.
Earlier, she had refused to attend the meeting. Mamata had alleged that the information was not given to her on time. After this, the meeting to be held at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence in Delhi was postponed after Nitish Kumar and Akhilesh Yadav also abstained from the meeting.
However, this time round, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has called Mamata and persuaded her to attend the next meeting.
On Friday, the marriage of Mamta’s nephew Avesh is to take place in Kurseong, North Bengal. For this, the entire Banerjee family had reached the hills of North Bengal.
Sources close to the CM said that Rahul Gandhi called her, congratulated Mamata on her nephew’s marriage, and then requested that she attend the alliance meeting. Mamata told him that before fixing the date of the meeting, talks should be held with the concerned leaders of all the opposition parties.
Mamata has assured that whenever the next meeting is held, she will definitely come. Sources said that a meeting of the alliance of opposition parties is to be held in the last week of December.
