New Delhi, December 8 (HS): The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing on Chandrababu Naidu’s petition challenging the bail order given by the Andhra Pradesh High Court in the Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Scam case. A bench headed by Justice Bela Trivedi ordered the next hearing of the case on January 19.
On November 28, the court, while hearing the petition of the Andhra Pradesh government, issued notice to Chandrababu Naidu. The Andhra Pradesh government has challenged the bail order given by the Andhra Pradesh High Court to Chandrababu Naidu in the Supreme Court. The Andhra Pradesh High Court granted regular bail to Naidu in this case on November 20.
It is noteworthy that Chandrababu Naidu has filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding cancellation of the FIR registered in the skill development scam case. The Supreme Court has reserved its decision on this petition.
Chandrababu Naidu was arrested by the CBI on September 10. Since then, he has been in custody. Naidu is the 37th accused in this case. Naidu had filed a petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court demanding the cancellation of the FIR registered against him. The High Court rejected his petition on September 22. Advocates Harish Salve and Siddharth Luthra, appearing for Naidu, had said that according to Section 17A of the Anti-Corruption Act, approval is necessary before registering an FIR.
