Waiter beaten to death for filthy plates touching wedding guests

Ghaziabad, 07 Dec (HS): A man was allegedly beaten to death while tending tables at a wedding ceremony in Ghaziabad when filthy plates he was carrying touched some guests. Three persons have been detained in connection with the case in Uttar Pradesh.

Pankaj Kumar, a DLF Shankar Vihar resident, was working as a waiter at a wedding party at CGS Vatika Guest House in Ghaziabad on 17 November when the incident occurred. On November 18, his body was spotted in bushes near Garhi Kattaiya village. The dead waiter was carrying some plates to be washed when they accidentally brushed up against some diners, according to authorities.

According to authorities, the three defendants, Manoj Gupta, Amit Kumar, and one other, were enraged at Pankaj and engaged in a violent dispute.

“Pankaj was thrown to the ground, where he sustained severe head injuries. Guests dumped the waiter’s body into the bushes, believing he was dead,” police added. Pankaj’s mother went to the police after he did not return home the next day. During the investigation, authorities questioned persons present at his last known location, a guest house, and evidence was gathered.
