Jakarta, 04 Dec (HS): At least 11 mountaineers were killed as a volcano in Mount Marapi on south of Sumatra in Indonesia on Sunday. Twelve other mountaineers have been reported missing.

Two climbing routes have been closed after the eruption and residents on the slopes of Marapi have been advised to move away at least three kilometres away from the crater?s mouth.

According to Al Jazeera, besides the 11 dead bodies of the mountaineers, three people were found alive. The most active volcano in Marapi Sumatra island is at 2,891 meter high. There were 75 people present on the mountain when the volcano erupted. Looking at the strong lava coming out of the volcano, the number of casualties may increase.
