Lucknow, 31 March (HS): In the fiscal year 2022-23, the department of social welfare distributed 1316 crore in scholarship funds to 21.66 lakh students from the scheduled caste and general categories.
According to data, 88.18 crore was sent to 5.58 lakh students in grades 9 and 10, while 1,227 crore was transferred to 16.07 students who passed class 10.
“Scholarship funds are being sent to the accounts of all eligible students,” said Asim Arun, minister of state for social welfare (Independent Charge). “The portal will be opened again between April 15 and June 15 for students whose applications have not been forwarded by the educational institution or for other technical reasons.”
This amount is being sent to all recipients’ Aadhaar-based accounts. According to the Centre’s rules, 40% of the state portion and 60% of the central share of the scholarship amount have been transferred to students’ accounts via DBT, according to a department official.
