Mahagathbandhan is finished, INDIA bloc distracted and not working: Nitish

Patna, 28 Jan (HS): Nitish Kumar, head of the Janata Dal (United), resigned as Bihar’s chief minister on Sunday. After presenting his resignation, Kumar informed media that he is no longer a member of the INDIA bloc. Bihar Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar accepted Kumar’s resignation and urged him to serve as interim Chief Minister till other arrangements were established. “Mahagathbandhan has ended. I listened to everyone’s ideas. The position in the grand alliance was not favourable. Now, if our former partners (BJP) join us, we will proceed. We tried to form the INDIA bloc, but it didn’t work,” Kumar remarked after departing.

The JD(U) head stated that the alliance he forged a year and a half ago was likewise in poor condition. “We tendered our resignation today. We are now separated. So if all of the parties who were present previously get together and make a decision, you would be informed,” Kumar explained.

He took a jab at the distracted opposition alliance, claiming that no work was being done in the INDIA bloc. According to Kumar, this circumstance arose because not everything was well. ?I was getting feedback from everyone. I listened to them all. The government has been dissolved,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Vinod Tawde, the saffron party’s in-charge of the state of Bihar for the Lok Sabha elections, took to microblogging site X and said, “As Nitish Kumar resigns, Bihar BJP legislature party has called for a meeting, which will take place after PM’s Mann Ki Baat and will review recent developments in the state and decide next steps.”

Reactions of political leaders: Mrityunjay Tiwari, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader, attacked Nitish Kumar, stating Paltimaar Rajneeti has returned and no one would ever trust the JD(U) chief again. Tiwari stated that Tejwashi Yadav will now form the government and win all 40 seats in the state.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh likened Nitish Kumar to a “chameleon”. In a post on X, the grand-old party’s leader said, “Nitish Kumar, who frequently changes political partners, is giving chameleons tough competition in changing colours.”

Ramesh stated that such treachery experts would not be forgiven by the people of Bihar.

Giriraj Singh, a union minister and BJP leader, congratulated Nitish Kumar for putting a stop to ‘jungle raj’.

Whatever his motivation, Bihar was confused as to whether a Jungle Raj 2-like situation could occur in 1.5 years. Singh stated that if Tejashwi Yadav had held the office of Chief Minister, it would have been extremely tough. ??I was concerned that given the pressure Lalu Yadav was putting on him for the ‘tajposhi’ of Tejashwi, Bihar would revert to a jungle regime. It is now free of this. The BJP would not tolerate jungle raj in Bihar,? the union Minister said.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi responded to the resignation of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar by posting on X and mocking him and the BJP.

Chaturvedi wrote that dying is okay, but going with them is not. I am completely aware of this! Nitish Kumar. Her tweet continued, “Palturam has insulted the mandate. Dear Paltu Babu, please be considerate. I pray to Chhath Maiya that Bihar be rid of Paltu Ram. For Nitish Kumar, the BJP’s doors have closed.”Amit Shah.

WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW? According to BJP sources, party heavyweights Vijay Sinha and Samrat Choudhury would serve as Bihar’s deputy chief ministers. Choudhary described it as a “emotional moment,” thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar’s party MLAs for “showing faith” in him. “Jungle Raj will end,” Choudhary stated, adding that the party has promised to win all 40 seats in the 2024 general elections.
