Free Bus Travel Scheme: Telangana Minister Fires Back at PM Modi

Minister Defends Women’s Financial Growth and Rejection of Metro Comparison of PM Modi

Hyderabad, 18 May (H.S): Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks criticizing the free bus travel for women scheme in Telangana and other states.

The minister stated that the scheme was implemented to support the financial growth of women and that the PM is “unable to digest” it. He also rejected the PM’s comparison between state transport body buses and the metro, stating that the metro sector is different and efforts are being made to increase the number of bogies on the Hyderabad metro. The minister further reassured that the state government is working towards ensuring that women do not face any difficulties in benefiting from the free bus scheme by increasing routes and adding more buses to the fleet. He also criticized the PM for making comments on trivial matters and urged him not to lower the stature of his office.

PM Modi Raises Concerns Over Metro Viability and Environmental Impact

In response, PM Modi questioned the viability of the metro project with the implementation of the free bus scheme and raised concerns over its impact on traffic and environment. However, Prabhakar stated that a concrete discussion on this matter is needed rather than getting into a political back and forth.
