Uttarkashi, November 18 (HS): The Prime Minister’s Deputy Secretary, Mangesh Ghildiyal, reached the spot on Saturday to inspect the Silkyara Tunnel accident and rescue operation in Uttarkashi. So that accidents caused by defects in the tunnel and rescue operations can be done better and faster. Here, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that in the future, we will review all such construction works.

Chief Minister Dhami said that all tunnel projects in the state will be reviewed. We are also assessing the carrying capacity of cities. It is noteworthy that many tunnel projects are proposed and under consideration in the state, including Mussoorie and Dehradun-Tehri.

The Chief Minister said that the work on tunnel construction is being done by NHIDCL. The tunnel work was about to be completed. About 400 metres of work were left. The same people were monitoring it when this accident happened, and 40 workers got trapped in the tunnel.

He said that agencies are engaged in rescue work, and the state government is supporting them in this. The Prime Minister’s Office is also keeping an eye on the rescue operation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself is continuously monitoring the rescue operations.

Today, Deputy Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, Mangesh Ghildiyal, arrived to inspect the Uttarkashi tunnel accident site. During this, he took feedback on the rescue work going on for the last seven days.

Chief Minister Dhami said that the Prime Minister’s Deputy Secretary Ghildiyal is reviewing this matter and is taking information from all the people regarding the accidents and relief and rescue in the tunnel. Feedback has also been taken from Deputy Secretary Ghildiyal. Instructions have been given from the level of the Prime Minister and the Central Government that the agencies and experts who work in such difficult situations should be contacted. The Chief Minister said that all such people are associated with the campaign and are receiving guidance from them.

The Chief Minister said that all the agencies working there are being given every kind of support by the state government. The Chief Secretary and other officers are in touch with him. They have to do the technical things themselves, and the state government is giving them full support.

The Chief Minister said that all the workers trapped in the tunnel are safe. Constant contact is being made with them. All arrangements are being made for food, water, and oxygen for all. The circumstances that arose during the tunnel accident should not have been seen before. On this question, the Chief Minister said that right now our first priority is to evacuate all the workers safely.

Taking help of modern technology from the country and the world for the rescue of workers trapped in the tunnel: CM

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the state government is making every possible effort to rescue 40 workers trapped in the under-construction tunnel of Silkyara in Uttarkashi for the last seven days. The help of modern technology from across the country and the world is being sought for the rescue of workers trapped in the tunnel.

Chief Minister Dhami said that the Silkyara tunnel rescue work is going on. Under the guidance of the PMO, the state government is making efforts to safely rescue all the workers trapped in the tunnel. The help of modern technology invented in the country and around the world is being used to rescue people trapped in the tunnel. It is hoped that success will be achieved soon.

During this, the Chief Minister gave clear instructions to the officials that every necessary step should be taken to deal with the obstacles coming in the rescue operation. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also constantly taking updates on the rescue operation. In such a situation, whatever rescue work is being done at Ground Zero, the officials should make better coordination with the agencies and complete it on time. The resources required for rescue work should be made available to the agencies immediately, and the work should be done expeditiously. The priority of the government is to get the workers out of the tunnel safely and as soon as possible.

The government stands with the workers and their families.

Chief Minister Dhami said that the government stands with the families of the workers in trouble. Officials were instructed to keep all the family members informed about the rescue at every moment. Apart from this, help centres should also be opened for the families who have reached Silkyara, and help should be provided as per their living and food needs. He said that in this time of crisis, family members need to remain patient.

The Chief Minister said that to deal with the Silkyara tunnel disaster, work is being done on the basis of the experiences of old tunnel rescues conducted in the country and around the world. For this, officials are adopting the techniques of tunnel construction and post-disaster rescue in many countries around the world, including the neighbouring states of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, and Kashmir. Information is being collected about the construction of big tunnels like Pir Panjal, Atal Tunnel, Bhanwar Tonk, Sangaldan, and rescue after a loose collapse. Accordingly, the rescue team is trying to rescue the workers.
